Mask First 8 Digits of Aadhaar in PDF (UIDAI-Compliant)

Overview

UIDAI permits sharing of Aadhaar with the first 8 digits masked (visible: XXXX-XXXX-1234) for non-eKYC use cases. Most landlords, gyms, courier services, and event registrations accept the masked variant. PDF Mavericks performs the mask in the browser; UIDAI's own masked-Aadhaar download requires you to log in.

How to Use This Tool

Drop your Aadhaar PDF into /aadhaar-mask. The tool auto-detects the 12-digit number and masks the first 8 digits. Download the result. The original is untouched.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is masked Aadhaar legally acceptable?

Yes per UIDAI guidelines for non-eKYC use cases. Banks doing full Aadhaar eKYC need the unmasked version; everywhere else, masked is preferred.

Will the QR code be affected?

Yes — PDF Mavericks also masks the QR code by default, because the QR decodes the full Aadhaar number. If you only mask the printed number but leave the QR scannable, the privacy benefit is cosmetic.

Does this work for e-Aadhaar (password-protected)?

Yes — unlock via /unlock-pdf first using your DOB password, then mask. Both steps run locally.
