What formats can I convert a PDF to?

Five formats: Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), HTML, PNG and JPEG. There is no plain-text or Excel output on this page. To get the text out of a PDF, use PDF to Text.

Is the text in the converted file editable?

No. Every format here works the same way: each PDF page is rendered to an image, and that image is placed into the output file. A .docx holds page images, a .pptx holds one page image per slide, and the HTML file is a series of image tags. The text is not selectable, searchable or editable in any of them. If the PDF has a text layer, PDF to Text and PDF to Markdown extract the real text; a scanned PDF needs OCR, which PDF Mavericks does not offer yet.

Is PDF conversion free?

All conversions are free with no registration required. There are no daily limits; the converter takes one PDF at a time.

How long does PDF conversion take?

Conversion runs in your browser and renders one page at a time, so a PDF with more pages takes longer, and so does a slower device. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no transfer wait.

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

Yes, but the result will not be editable. The converter turns every page into an image whether the PDF was scanned or not, so the .docx shows the scan as a picture. Editable text from a scan needs OCR, which PDF Mavericks does not offer yet.
