What is Masked Aadhaar?

UIDAI introduced the Masked Aadhaar standard so citizens can share their identity without exposing the full 12-digit number. The masked version hides the first 8 digits and displays only the last 4 — enough for the recipient to verify your identity while preventing full-number data leakage.

Why use a browser-local tool?

Most online tools send your PDF to their servers. For Aadhaar — which is linked to your bank accounts, biometrics, and government records — that is a significant privacy risk. PDF Mavericks runs entirely in your browser: your Aadhaar PDF is processed by WebAssembly code on your own device, never transmitted anywhere.

How to mask Aadhaar in a PDF

  1. Upload: Drag and drop your Aadhaar PDF or select it from your device.
  2. Auto-detect: For text-based PDFs, the tool finds the 12-digit number automatically.
  3. Review: Check the mask boxes on the canvas. Drag to adjust, click to remove, or draw a new one.
  4. Download: Click Download Masked PDF. The masks are permanently burned into the file.
  • UIDAI-compliant: Last 4 digits visible, first 8 hidden.
  • No upload: File stays on your device throughout.
  • Accepted everywhere: Banks, colleges, insurance, rental agreements.
  • Works on digital Aadhaar: PDFs downloaded from myAadhaar.uidai.gov.in.

This tool follows UIDAI's Masked Aadhaar guideline (last 4 digits visible).

Files are processed in your browser. PDF Mavericks does not upload, store, or transmit your Aadhaar.
