- How do I convert a Word document to PDF?

- Does it support the old .doc format?
- No. This converter reads the modern .docx format (Word 2007 and later). Legacy binary .doc files from Word 97-2003 use a different structure it cannot parse. Open the file in Word or Google Docs and save it as .docx first, then convert.
- What formatting is preserved?
- Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, and embedded images carry over. The document is read into HTML and paginated to your chosen page size. Complex Word layouts such as multi-column text and text boxes are approximated rather than reproduced exactly.
- Is the text in the PDF selectable or searchable?
- No. This tool renders the document to a high-resolution image and places that image in the PDF, so the text is not selectable, searchable, or copyable. The visual layout is faithful, but if you need a selectable text layer, use Word's own Save as PDF or Export feature instead. Multi-page documents are paginated with page-break protection so rows, images, and headings are not sliced across pages.
- Is my document uploaded anywhere?
- No. Reading the .docx and building the PDF both run entirely in your browser using mammoth.js and html2pdf.js. Your file never leaves your device and nothing is stored on a server. Closing the tab clears everything.
- Do images inside the document convert too?
- Yes. Images embedded in the .docx are extracted as data and rendered into the preview and the PDF. Very large images increase the file size of the resulting PDF, since the page is rendered to a high-resolution canvas before it is written.
- Why convert Word to PDF instead of using Save As?
- When you do not have Word installed, or you are on a phone or a shared machine, a browser tool avoids the round trip. A PDF also looks the same everywhere and is the format most portals and email attachments expect, so it is the safer thing to send.
