Convert WebP to JPG for Firefox and Older Browsers
Overview
Images downloaded from websites via Chrome often save as .webp even when you right-click and save a .jpg link. Older browsers, Windows Photos in older versions, and many image editors do not open WebP. Convert to JPG in your browser and get a file that opens everywhere.
How to Use This Tool
Upload your .webp file. Click Convert to JPG. The tool decodes the WebP and re-encodes as JPG at 90% quality. Download the JPG and open it in any image viewer or editor.

Why did my downloaded image save as WebP instead of JPG?
Modern Chrome and Edge save images in their original web format, which is increasingly WebP. Even if the URL ends in .jpg, the actual served file may be WebP. The browser saves the real file format.
Can Windows 11 open WebP files natively?
Yes. Windows 11 Photos app and Paint open WebP natively. Windows 10 cannot without a codec pack. For older systems, converting to JPG is the easiest fix.
Does WebP to JPG conversion lose quality?
Minimal loss at 90% quality. WebP is also a lossy format (by default), so you are converting one lossy format to another. The visual difference at 90% JPG is negligible for web use.
