Getting the Best Quality Output

Start from the source PDF, not a scan

A native PDF (created from Word, InDesign, or a web browser) will always produce sharper PNG output than a scanned document at the same DPI. Scanned PDFs are already rasterized — converting them to PNG doesn't recover detail.

Use 150+ DPI for text legibility

Below 150 DPI, small-size body text (10–12pt) starts to look fuzzy. If your PDF contains fine print or footnotes, go to at least 200 DPI.

Check the PNG dimensions before use

An A4 page at 300 DPI is 2480 × 3508 pixels. Make sure your target platform accepts that resolution before converting all pages at max quality.
